Is Jerry Jones Going to be the Next Al Davis?
Written by Travis Pulver, Tuesday December 27 2011
Jerry Jones (owner/GM of the Dallas Cowboys) and Al Davis (former owner/GM of the Oakland Raiders) are two characters that people either love or hate. As time goes by that might not be the only similarity the two individuals have.
Like Davis, he has had success, but towards the end of Davis’s career/life he was no longer perceived as being a football genius. He was often the target of ridicule; many wishing he would retire and turn the team over to the next generation.
Since winning Super Bowl XXX, the shine has come off the Cowboys star; they have only won two of nine football games from 1996-2010. Some would say that is because of the man in charge (Jones) has outlived his welcome and needs to step down as the team’s GM.
They are going to be sorely disappointed though. Jones has stated that he has no intentions of stepping down anytime soon. Fans will know they have something to worry about if Jones starts to channel Davis and beings wearing jump suits to the games.
