Lions Clinch First Playoff Berth in 12 Years
Written by Nolan Thomas, Saturday December 24 2011
With a 38-10 win over the San Diego Chargers on Saturday, the Detroit Lions clinched their first playoff berth since 1999.
This is a huge turn around for a team that just three seasons ago was 0-16. As the clocked ticked down in Ford Field, the crowd began chanting “Play-offs, Play-offs” and the players did a victory lap around the field giving the fans high fives once the game was over.
With the victory the Lions knocked the Chargers out of postseason contention and it just might cost head coach Norv Turner his job.
