Braylon Edwards Gives Away his Salary
Written by Travis Pulver, Wednesday December 21 2011
The guy is a defense lawyer’s dream. He can’t stop speeding, he’s had anger issues related to a case of Lebron James-it is, and he’s been busted driving while intoxicated.
As a player he is one of those guys that the jury is still out on. He was brilliant for a time, but then forgot how to catch for a season or two.
Ask 79 kids and their parents in the Cleveland area about Braylon Edwards and they will say the man is alright.
Years ago Edwards (now in San Francisco) made a promise to 100 8th grade students (as part of the Advance 100 Program) that he would give them each $10,000 for college if they graduated with a 2.5 GPA and did at least 15 hours of community service.
As icing on the cake he sweetened the pot for the 79 that succeeded by buying laptops and other school supplies as well.
What makes this even more remarkable is that his base salary this season is $1 million—just enough to pay for the scholarships and laptops.
