Patriots Clinch AFC East Again
Written by Christopher Corazon, Sunday December 18 2011
The Patriots beat the Broncos 41-23. Meanwhile the Jets lost to the Eagles and the result is the Patriots are once again champions of the AFC East.
The way the game started in Denver, it looked like the Patriots might be in trouble. Tim Thibault and the Broncos have been winning games where they did not show up until the fourth quarter. It seems Thibault didn’t know what time those games started. But today, the Broncos led 6-0 and their largest lead was 16-7. This time it seemed like Thibault started playing at 10 o’clock in the morning.
Now that the Patriots have won the division, they need to focus on success in the playoffs. In 2007, the 18-0 Patriots lost the superbowl to the Giants. In 2008 the Pats lost Tom Brady in the opener, won 11 games but did not make playoffs. In 2009 they lost their first playoff game to the Ravens. In 2010 they lost their first playoff game to the Jets. It remains to be seen if Brady and the Patriots can turn around their playoff fortune in 2011.
