St. Louis Cardinals franchise icon Albert Pujols is leaving the World Series champions after agreeing to a $254 million, 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday.

After 11 seasons in St. Louis, the three-time NL MVP will continue his major league career in LA LA Land after agreeing to the second highest contract in baseball history with only the Yankees Alex Rodriguez being paid more.

Pujols’ contract with the Angels is subject to passing a physical.

During his career with the Cardinals Pujols hit .338 with 445 home runs and 1,329 RBIs and he is fourth all time in career slugging percentage at .617 behind only Babe Ruth, Ted Williams and Lou Gehrig.

However, the last three seasons Pujols offensive numbers have been in decline with his poorest season numbers wise of his career was last season. Being that Pujols is 31 years old, he is probably destined to spend most of his time with the Angels as the designated hitter instead of playing first base.

The Angels also agreed to a five-year $77.5 million contract with former Texas Rangers left-hander C.J. Wilson on Thursday.
