Lefty Mark Buehrle Reaches Deal with Marlins
Written by Nolan Thomas, Wednesday December 07 2011
Former Chicago White Sox left handed pitcher Mark Buehrle is rejoining manager Ozzie Guillen in Miami as the free agent pitcher has agreed to a four-year, $58 million contract with the Miami Marlins.
Buehrle had 161 victories with the White Sox including a run of 11 consecutive seasons with at least 10 victories, 30 starts and 200 innings pitched. Last season Buehrle was 13-9 with a 3.59 ERA while pitching for Guillen.
The Marlins signing Buehrle adds to their aggressive free-agent signings that has seen them also sign All-Star free agents Heath Bell and Jose Reyes.
The signing of Buehrle might take the Marlins out of contention for Albert Pujols, which most likely means the All-Star slugger will return to the St. Louis Cardinals.
