Yankees have won negotiating rights to Japanese SS Hiroyuki Nakajima
The New York Yankees have won negotiating rights to Japanese SS Hiroyuki Nakajima, according to FOX Sports .
Since the Mets lost Reyes many thought the Mets were the one in on the bid, but that's not the case.
There's no guarantee the Yankees will sign Nakajima, as both sides must now negotiate a contract. The Yankees now have a 30-day exclusive negotiating window with the 29-year old shortstop.
Nakajima strongly preferred playing for a team on the west coast, so it will be interesting to see if he's willing to play in New York in a utility role.
