Can You Bear Another Brett Favre Comeback?

Heeeeeeeee's Baaaaaaaack.  Well, sort of.

Apparently Brett Favre is interested in coming out of retirement, again, to become the quarterback of the Chicago Bears.  Although there doesn't seem to be any interest in Favre from the Bears that doesn't make this story any less interesting.

Since Jay Cutler broke his thumb and his backup, Caleb Hanie has been horrible with six interceptions in his two starts, this rumor at least makes some sense.  The Bears are 7-5 and in the thick of the Wild Card race in the NFC, but are 0-2 in Hanie's two starts after Cutler won his last five starts.

Also, Favre is familiar with the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings since he was the quarterback of both teams.  And as luck would have it, both the Packers and Vikings are on the Bears' remaining schedule.

Unfortunately for Favre, he has some competition for the Bears quarterback job.  Not only is Haine the current quarterback, but Donovan McNabb requested his release from the Vikings so that he could sign with his hometown Bears.

Unfortunately for McNabb, the Bears and their players don't seem very interested in his services.  Bears' wide receiver said that signing McNabb would be a "waste of time".

"It's going to be tough right now to add a quarterback that hasn't played in a [Bears offensive coordinator] Mike Martz offense, Hester said of signing McNabb, but just as easily could have been talking about Favre.  "It's one of the more difficult offenses to run.  So to get a quarterback that hasn't been in that offense, right now it's going to be a waste of time.  I guess we'll stick with the guys we have right now and hope we get better with those guys."

Favre signing with the Bears would make for interesting symmetry, considering that the Bears knocked Favre out of what was thought to be his final game.  Favre, 42 hasn't played all season, but who can say the man who holds most of the NFL's significant passing records couldn't make a comeback....again?

Well, Bears coach Lovie Smith, for one.

"We're not looking on the outside.  We won't have a quarterback tryout or anything like that, Smith said".  Tryout?  Lovie, Brett Favre doesn't try out.  Haven't you been paying attention?
