McNabb’s Plan Backfires Goes Unclaimed
Quarterback Donovan McNabb figured that by asking the Minnesota Vikings for his release that another team in the playoff hunt such as the Chicago Bears or Houston Texans, who have both lost their starting quarterbacks, would claim him, pay him the rest of this season’s salary and throw him into the starter’s role in the process.
That plan backfired on Friday after no other team claimed him from the waiver wire.
There is still a chance that some team may sign him to a free agent contract but it would probably be for considerably less then what he was due with the Vikings and it would still be in a backup roll riding the pine.
It was a big gamble for McNabb and he lost.
