Vikings Cut QB Donovan McNabb
Written by Nolan Thomas, Thursday December 01 2011
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Donovan McNabb has been cut by the team after he asked them for his release in the hopes of catching on with a playoff contender who may be looking for his services.
Since leaving the Philadelphia Eagles, McNabb’s career has been disastrous with the Washington Redskins last season and in five games with the Vikings this year. With both teams, McNabb started out the season as the starting quarterback only to be eventually benched because he was ineffective and the losses were piling up.
Possible destinations for McNabb are the Chicago Bears, Houston Texans and even the Kansas City Chiefs, who picked up Kyle Orton on waivers last week.
McNabb will have to clear waivers before any team can sign him to a new deal, where as a team that claims him off of waivers will have to pay him what he is due on his current contract for the rest of the season.
