Texans put Schaub on I.R. sign Clemens
The Houston Texans have placed quarterback Matt Schaub on injured reserve after it was determined that he would need season-ending surgery and signed quarterback Kellen Clemens.
Schaub injured his right foot during the team’s victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday.
Matt Leinart will take over for Schaub this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars while Clemens will become the backup and rookie T.J. Yates, a fifth-round pick, will remain No. 3 on the depth chart.
Clemens was one of five quarterbacks that tried out for the Texans on Monday. Jeff Garcia, Trent Edwards, Brodie Croyle and Chase Clement also had try outs with the team.
