Krzyzewski passes Knight with Most Wins
Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski passed Bob Knight as the NCAA’s Division I coach with the most victories with a 74-69 victory over Michigan State on Tuesday night.
Coach K earned his 903 win breaking the tie with Knight, who was his college coach at Army.
Knight was on hand sitting across the court at the ESPN broadcast table and once the game was over, Krzyzewski went right across the court to Knight and with tears in his eyes, the two legendary coaches hugged.
“I just told Coach I love him,” Krzyzewski said. “I wouldn’t be in this position without him. It’s a moment shared. I know he’s very proud and I’m very proud to have been somebody who’s worked under him and studied him and tried to be like him.”
