NBA Season in Serious Jeopardy as Union Rejects Offer
After a meeting of player representatives in New York, the NBA season is in serious jeopardy after the National Basketball Players Association rejected the owners’ take-it-or-leave-it labor offer.
Union executive director Billy Hunter said a suit against the NBA will come in the "next two days." In addition, the players plan to dissolve the union and file an antitrust lawsuit against the league.
"We have unanimously decided this deal doesn't work for the players," players association president Derek Fisher said.
In all likelihood this probably means that the entire 2011-12 season will be lost and that the only b-ball this season will be college basketball.
