Miniskirts for Female Boxers? Really?

Female Boxer

According to the Associated Press, "the AIBA has not made any final decision on boxers’ uniform for women," in spite of initially stating that wearing skirts would help the women stand out from the men’s competitions.

You know - 'cause female boxers look so much like men, they need to wear those short skirts to differentiate them from the male boxers, right?

Nudge, nudge, wink, wink...

According to Ireland’s three-time world champion Katie Taylor, “I won’t be wearing a miniskirt,” she told the BBC last week. “I don’t even wear miniskirts on a night out, so I definitely won’t be wearing miniskirts in the ring.” Her feelings seem to be reciprocated by just about every female boxer or fighter out there, so hopefully the AIBA will take heed and listen to the fighters - not the creepers who want a peek show.

The AIBA did release a statement saying “the AIBA is seeking a consensus from the worldwide boxing family and the wider public for reference purposes,” meaning the decision is not yet final.

If you want to have a say and let AIBA know how you feel about female boxers wearing skirts, you know...so people can tell them apart from the male boxers...here's where you can email them: AIBA Email.
