Boxing Great Joe Frazier, nicknamed “Smokin’ Joe,” died on Monday at the age of 67 after a brief battle with liver cancer.

Frazier, who was not only the first fighter to defeat Muhammad Ali, he was the first to actually, knock him to the canvas as well.

"That was the greatest thing that ever happened in my life," Frazier said.

"I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration," Ali said in a statement. "My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones."

Frazier and Ali fought three times, including in the Thrilla in Manila in the Philippines.

They faced off for 41 rounds against each other and were the biggest rivals in the boxing world.
