Bears Own Vick… Again
Written by Nolan Thomas, Tuesday November 08 2011
Every athlete and team always seems to have that nemesis that for some reason they just can’t seem to beat. For Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, that nemesis is the Chicago Bears.
After the Bears 30-24 victory over the Eagles on Monday night in Philadelphia, Vick is now 0-4 as a starter against the Bears during his career.
The first two losses were while he was with the Atlanta Falcons by scores of 14-13 in 2002 in Atlanta and 14-3 in 2005 in Chicago. The third loss was last season as the Bears won 31-26 in Soldier Field.
Against the Bears Vick has completed 92 of 160 passes for 1020 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions for a 72.3 quarterback rating.
Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher can’t explain the Bears dominance over Vick.
“We've never contained him,” Urlacher said of Vick. “We keep him in the pocket pretty good. He has big games against us, but somehow we find ways to win. We get a turnover here or there or something like that. But you never stop the guy, I know that much.”
Vick credits the Bears defense, specifically Urlacher, as the reason that he has had a tough time against the Bears during his career.
