Magic Has HIV; 20 Years Later
Written by Christopher Corazon, Tuesday November 08 2011
Magic Johnson had an interesting milestone yesterday; it was 20 years since he announced that he was HIV+.
Johnson appeared on Colin Cowherd's show to talk about some of the events over the past 20 years. He mentioned how when he first found out, he needed to talk to someone who had the disease. He said Elizabeth Glaser was very helpful. She told Magic that he would be around a long long time. Glaser died in 1994.
Johnson also talked about his comeback, and how it was opposed by players like Karl Malone. Johnson saw that as an opportunity to educate those players and the world. Cowherd mentioned that Magic is known for his smile.
20 years later, and he is still smiling.
