Michael Vick is Most Disliked NFL Player

Forbes.com reported on a poll conducted by Nielson and E-Poll Market Research to determine the most disliked player in the National Football League and Michael Vick came out on top.  Or would that be on bottom?

Vick is easily the most polarizing athlete in sports today.  While he has his many admirers, he also has more than his share of detractors.  His jersey is now the number one seller among NFL players, yet Forbes.com reported that 60 percent of those polled said that they "dislike", "dislike somewhat", or "dislike a lot" the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback.

Vick is in his second tour of duty in the NFL after serving time in federal prison for running an illegal dogfighting ring while he was the quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons.  He signed with the Eagles two years ago as the backup Donovan McNabb, but took over for an injured Kevin Kolb in the opener last season after McNabb was traded to the Washington Redskins.

Second on the list was another ex-convict, New York Jets wide receiver Plaxico Burress.  Apparently Burress got 56 percent of the vote for shooting himself in the leg two years ago while he was in a crowded night club.  Number three on the list wasn't exactly convicted of a crime, but he was convicted in the court of public opinion.  Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was accused of sexual assault on several occasions, but has never been convicted of a crime.

New England Patriots defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth came in at No. 4 with 46 percent, due to his quitting on the Washington Redskins as soon as he signed that $100 million contract.  Next on the list was Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler with 38 percent.  It is unknown whether the voters dislike Cutler because they questioned his toughness after leaving last year's NFC Championship Game with an injury or whether they are just sick of seeing him in the tabloids with his reality show "star" girlfriend.

The rest of the top ten is Patriots receiver Chad Ochocinco (35 percent), who is simply annoying with his reality shows and name changes.  Eagles backup quarterback Vince Young (32 percent) is No. 7 thanks to his strip club fights and possibly his ridiculous "Dream Team" quote.

Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer (31 percent) is a surprise at No. 8.  Perhaps the voters don't like players who quit on their teammates when things aren't going well.  Of course, the Cincinnati Bengals are one of the best teams in the NFL now that Palmer s no longer there, so maybe the voter knew what they were talking about.

Tied at 29 percent were Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey.  Shockey is a notorious jerk so his inclusion on this list was a given.  Romo most likely showed up here because of he is more well known for the women he's dated than anything he's done of consequence on the football field.
