Cubs Manager Opening Most Desirable
Written by Nolan Thomas, Saturday November 05 2011
Right now there are three major managerial opening in MLB, the Cardinals, the Cubs and the Red Sox. Believe it or not the most desirable job is in Chicago with the Cubs.
Sure the Cardinals, who just won the World Series, and the Red Sox have the talent already to win and being their manager could probably be a nice cushy job with instant success.
With the Cubs however it is going to take at least a couple of years, if not more, to field a championship caliber team.
However, new president of baseball operations Theo Epstein and new general manager Jed Hoyer know it is going to take time and the new manager will not be expected to win right away giving him good job security regardless of how the team does the next couple of years.
The new managers of the Cardinals and the Red Sox are not going to have that same security.
In addition, if in fact the Cubs win a World Series in the near future, the manager who leads them to the title will go down in history as the first one to do so in over a century.
Standing on the steps of the dugout at Wrigley Field is the one job that is just too damn good to pass up.
