Jim Thome back with Philles
Jim Thome, who played for the Phillies from 2003-2005 and was a fan favorite, signed a one year $1.25 million deal to return to the team on Friday. The deal will become final once Thome passes a medical exam.
Thome joined the 600-homer club this past season and the Phillies will mostly use him off the bench to spell Ryan Howard at first and to pinch hit.
Thome has a .277 career average with 604 homers and 1,674 RBIs and has played for the Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Minnesota Twins.
