Tony La Russa Retires As Cardinals Manager
Written by Nolan Thomas, Monday October 31 2011
Less then a week after the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series, Tony La Russa has retired as manager from the team.
In what could be construed as a miracle season after winning the wild card when the team was 10 games back at the start of September and then twice coming back from two 2-run deficits with two outs and two strikes in game six of the World Series against the Texas Rangers, La Russa is retiring as a manager with three championships, six pennants, 12 division championships and 2,728 wins.
Speculation has it that La Russa is going to come to Chicago to be a special advisor for the White Sox.
