Cardinals Just Won’t Die, Win Game Six
Written by Nolan Thomas, Thursday October 27 2011
The St. Louis Cardinals just never give up. After falling behind by three runs to the Texas Rangers in the seventh inning, tying the game in the ninth and then going down again by two in the tenth, tied it once again in the bottom half of the inning and finally won it in the eleventh inning 10-9 on a leadoff walk off home run by David Freese.
It was a see-saw battle throughout the game. In the seventh inning the Rangers scored three runs including solo home runs by with an Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz to take a 7-4 lead.
The Cardinals made it 7-5 on a home run by Allen Craig in the eighth inning and then tied the game in the bottom of the ninth against Neftali Feliz on a two out two strike two run triple by Freese to send the game into extra innings.
In the top of the tenth, Josh Hamilton hit a two run home run to put the Rangers back on top by two runs.
In the bottom of the tenth, Darren Oliver took over on the mound and promptly gave up two hits and a bunt sacrifice to put the tying runs at second and third with one out. Scott Feldman then took over on the mound and gave up an RBI out to Ryan Theriot and then intentionally walked Albert Pujols.
Feldman then gave up an RBI single to Lance Berkman to tie the game once again with two outs and two strikes to keep the game going into the eleventh to win it on Freese’s leadoff homer.
Unbelievable!
