Carson Palmer Headed to Raiders
After Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown insisted that he would not trade quarterback Carson Palmer because he did not want to reward him for holding out, he finally caved in and traded the disgruntled quarterback to the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday.
Prior to the season Palmer said that he would not play for the Bengals again and if he was not traded that he would retire.
According to ESPN, the Raiders gave up their first-round pick in 2012 and a conditional first-round pick in 2013 for Palmer.
After losing quarterback Jason Campbell for possibly the rest of the season after he broke his collarbone on Sunday, the Raiders were in a desperation mode to find a veteran quarterback.
The team currently has quarterbacks Kyle Boller and Terrelle Pryor on the roster.
They reportedly had interest in quarterback David Garrard but were informed he is out indefinitely because he needed back surgery. They also were thinking about trading for Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton but decided he was not worth giving up draft picks for.
