Mountain West and Conference USA Merge

The Mountain West Conference and Conference USA made an announcement on Friday that they are combining their football programs to form a 22-team league.
In what will be the largest NCAA conference, it will spread from the east coast all the way to Hawaii.
Commissioner of the Mountain West, Craig Thompson, said they decided to merge together instead of waiting for teams to be poached or affected by conference realignment.
What the new conference would be called or when the merger would officially take place is not known at this time.
