LCS With A Central Theme

This year the ALCS and the NLCS have a central theme. Early in the year, the Red Sox were considered a favorite to win it all. They had a collapse of historic proporions. The Braves were headed for the playoffs, but also lost their lead late in the season. The playoffs started with three teams from the East, and they were all eliminated in the first round. The Diamondbacks, the furthest team in the West, was also knocked out.

And so, as MLB heads into the final four, baseball is only being played in the middle of the country. There are three teams from the Central, and then there are the Texas Rangers. The Rangers play in the AL West, but the local NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys, play in the NFC East. Split the difference, Texas could be considered a central team. Baseball continues in St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Detroit.

The Rangers started their quest to return to the World Series with a 3-2 win over the Tigers. Today, the Brewers host the Cardinals in the NLCS. It is a rematch of the 1982 World Series, back when Milwaukee was in the American League. As the playoffs continue, the games will go on in the middle of the country.
