Bob Sanders is Done for the Season (again)
Written by Travis Pulver, Wednesday September 28 2011
To anyone who has heard of the hard-hitting safety will not be surprised to hear that he is out for the season again, this time with a knee injury.
On Wednesday, the former Indianapolis Colts star, now San Diego Charger, was placed on the injured reserve list effectively ending his season. It is the third time that he has been placed on the IR in his eight year career.
“It didn’t work out for him or us, and we wish him the very best. He was with us a very short time, but made a positive impact with our team in many ways, and I’ll always appreciate that,” Chargers General Manager A.J. Smith said in a statement.
Sanders has not been on the field much since winning the defensive player of the year award in 2007. In fact, since being drafted by the Colts in the second round in 2004, he has only played in 58 of a possible 128 games,
As painful as it might be to admit, the reckless abandon that he played with early in his career might have cost him just that—his career.
