Manny Ramirez Arrested
Written by Christopher Corazon, Tuesday September 13 2011
There is a TV show called "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". They call Florida the sunshine state. If you combine the two, you might think that it is always sunny in Florida. Whether that is true or not, it has not been sunny for Manny Ramirez.
The baseball season started with Ramirez playing for the Tampa Bay Rays. But Ramirez reportedly failed a steroid test. He already served a 50 game suspension when he failed a steroid test when he played for the Dodgers. Faced with a longer suspension, he retired.
Some players retire and are never heard of again. They just go quietly into that good night. But that would not be the style of the player who was known as "Manny being Manny" in Boston or who created a sensation known as "Mannywood" in Los Angeles.
Here it is the final weeks of the baseball season and Ramirez is in the news again. Only this time, it was because he was arrested as part of a domestic dispute in Florida. Maybe things would be better for Ramirez in Philadelphia. Supposedly, it's always sunny there. As WC Fields might say, "On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia."
