Giants “The Franchise” Could Be In For a Short Run
Written by Daniel Turner, Monday August 29 2011
Unless they can take matters into their own hands next weekend against Arizona at AT&T the Giants Championship season could end when the regular season closes. While it is easy to point to their lack of offense and string of injuries to highlight their inefficiency an even more ominous note has been their inability to beat the bottom feeders.
Sunday they dropped an 11 inning affair to the Houston Disastros to give them a 3-4 season record against a team that has reached to the lowest of A levels to field players in a hopeless campaign. Likewise they have losing records against Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Washington and Florida. If they could merely have swung their 13-20 record against these turkeys they could be sitting in first watching the Diamondbacks squirm.
Champions beat the best opponents, but they take care of business when they play the lesser lights, too. Failure at the latter is probably going the give the Giants plenty of time to watch Showtime in the post season.
