Peyton Manning Taken Off PUP List
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning was taken off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list on Monday which will enable him to begin practicing with the team. Whether or not he will play in the season opener or when he will actually suit up and play in game is not known.
The team said that the star quarterback will practice with teammates on a “scripted” and controlled basis this week.
Manning has missed all of the Colts training camp so far, the second time in four seasons that has happened.
If Manning is not ready for the season opener it will break his starting streak of 227 consecutive games, including the playoffs, second behind only Brett Favre with 321.
It will be interesting to see if the Colts put him for a snap or two just to keep the streak alive, although Manning said that he does not intend to do that.
Three years ago after Manning returned from a knee injury, he struggled during the first half of the season but regained his form by midseason and won his third MVP award.
