Shawne Merriman Up to his Old Tricks Again?
Written by Travis Pulver, Friday August 19 2011
There is a possibility that Buffalo Bills linebacker Shawne Merriman may be up to some old tricks.
Merriman was stopped crossing the border from Canada into the United States prior to the start of training camp. Rumor has it that he was carrying either steroids or some other banned substance. He, of course, denies that he was carrying anything and insists that it was a routine stop.
“To clarify,” Merriman wrote on Twiiter, “there was absolutely NO steroids found in my vehicle & there were NO charges against me. I’ve received a great welcome by the community and fans. I’ve worked my butt off to have a great season.”
Shawne Merriman was once one of the most feared pass rushers in the game. The man was fast, fierce, and virtually unstoppable at times. That is, until he got hurt. He has yet to regain the form that helped him record 39.5 sacks in his first three seasons.
