NFL suspends Terrelle Pryor five games
In a statement by the NFL, they have suspended former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor for the first five games of his NFL career as a precondition to allowing him to be eligible for the upcoming supplemental draft on August 21.
This is a good move as the NFL is making a statement that that the league will not be an easy alternative to college athletes that leave school early because of NCAA violations.
After his part in a scandal that involved impermissible benefits, Pryor was suspended by the NCAA for his first five games if he would have stayed at Ohio State and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is not going to let him off that easy as he will now serve his college suspension in the NFL.
The NFL informed teams that Pryor "made decisions that undermine the integrity of the eligibility rules for the NFL draft." These included his failure to cooperate with the NCAA in its investigation of Ohio State, and hiring agent Drew Rosenhaus in violation of NCAA rules.
