Steve Williams Rips Tiger Woods at Bridgestone

Adam Scott earned his first World Golf Championship title by winning the Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday.  Tiger Woods competed in his first tournament in three months.  But it was a caddie who stole the show.

Steve Williams spent 12 years as Tiger's caddie, but after he was recently fired by Woods he was Scott's caddie at the Bridgestone Invitational.  And right after Scott finished his round with a birdie on 18 for a 5-under 65 and a four-shot tournament victory, Williams gave an interview to CBS Sports.

"I've been caddying for 33 years and that's the best week of my life and I'm not joking," Williams said.  "There were a lot of expectations today.  I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little nervous.  Obviously, Adam was leading the tournament and there was a lot being said this week, so it was great to back it up.  But honestly that's the best week of my life; I've caddied for 33 years, 145 wins now, and that was the best win I've ever had."

While he never mentioned Tiger Woods by name, it was obvious that Williams was still bitter that Woods fired him.  Even CBS's Jim Nantz thought so, after the Williams interview.

"Wow, that's all you can say," Nantz said.  "That will be talked about for weeks to come.  You call that the biggest win of your career after 13 major championships with Tiger Woods and call this the greatest week of your life.  It's a pretty interesting comment."

There was no immediate response for Woods, who had finished his round earlier on Sunday tied for 37th with a 70.  While that was 18 shots behind Scott, Woods was still happy to be playing golf for the first time since the Masters on April 10.

Woods needs a good showing in the PGA Championship next week to qualify for the No. 125 cutoff for the FedEx Cup playoffs at the end of the month.  Woods is scheduled to play the first two rounds with Padrig Harrington and Davis Love III.  It's too bad he isn't paired with Scott.
