Betting On the WSOP
Written by Daniel Turner, Friday July 29 2011
Las Vegas stands to make a lot of money on the “November Nine”, the nine players who will sit down at the table for the final of the WSOP. Especially since The Nevada Gaming Commission has decided that, beginning this year, Sports Books can handle wagers on events and the WSOP is the inaugural run for the new law. Wynn got the jump on other houses by setting a line before the tournament began, but now most others have joined in and note that the wagering is heavy.
Local Ben Lamb appears to the early favorite and that is no surprise. Not only is Lamb a homey, but he is the leading candidate for WSOP Player of the Year having won over $2 million during the tournament’s run to the finals.
Lamb admits he is betting on himself, but that too is legal since nothing stops a boxer from putting money on the outcome of his fight.
