Ohio State Forfeits 2010 Wins
Responding to the NCAA's investigation of a memorabilia-for-cash scandal involving a local tattoo parlor, Ohio State is forfeiting its wins from the 2010 football season in addition to putting the football program on probation for two years.
The forfeiture includes the schools share of the Big Ten championship and their victory over Arkansas in the 2011 Sugar Bowl. It also cancels out the schools seven-game winning streak against rival Michigan.
If any more wrongdoing is discovered, it would mean even more and harsher penalties for the schools football program as well.
The forfeiture of wins in response to the NCAA is just a start as the governing body for college sports could still impose tougher sanctions on the schools football program, such as banning any post-season play and a reduction in scholarships depending on a hearing scheduled in August.
The scandal cost former coach Jim Tressel his job in addition to leading star quarterback Terrelle Pryor to leave school early.
