Antoine Walker Pleads Guilty to Writing Bogus Checks to Casinos
Former University of Kentucky and Boston Celtics star Antoine Walker has pleaded guilty to six felony counts related to him passing bogus checks in order to pay off unpaid gambling debts in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Sun reported that the former all-star will be put on probation and work toward paying off the $750,000 gambling debt to Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Red Rock Casinos.
The criminal complaint was filed in the summer of 2009 after Walker did not pay the casinos back for his gambling debts and then writing bad checks with insufficient funds in June 2010.
Walker currently plays for the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League. Walker won an NBA title in 2006 with the Miami Heat.
Walker, 34, was not present in court, and his lawyers entered his guilty plea. Sentencing is set for Nov. 1.
In May 2010, Walker filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in Florida with total assets of $4.3 million and debts of $12.7 million.
