Lincecum Looking To Freak Out
Written by Daniel Turner, Wednesday June 29 2011
Tim Lincecum has been merely mortal this season and at times he has looked, at best, average. So, when The Freak was at his lowest point this month he turned to his number one fan, his Dad, and former catcher Bengie Molina for some tea and sympathy. Being told he is still the best seemed to soothe his damaged psyche as he rebounded from his 0-2, 7.59 ERA, June swoon with a 12 K, 2-1 win over Minnesota in his last outing.
Lincecum can put his dismal Summer Solstice behind him tonight when he takes the mound against a team he owns, the Chicago Cubs. In three starts at the Friendly Confines Lincecum is 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA and 24 K’s. Furthermore, he can give the Giants an 8 game win streak; something they haven’t had since April of 2007.
The Giants are rounding into shape and a Cy Young Freak should help a playoff run.
