Dirk Nowitzki Returns Home Receives Hero’s Welcome
Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki returned home to his home town of Wuerzburh, Germany on Tuesday and received a hero’s welcome just over two weeks after he led the Mavericks to their first championship.
Nowitzki was welcomed in a Wuerzburg sports hall by about 3,000 fans who chanted "MVP, MVP" to the local home town boy who won the NBA Finals most valuable player after defeating the Miami Heat.
After signing the golden book in the town’s city hall, Nowitzki got into a motorcade that took him to a party that was expected to draw 15,000 fans.
