Goodell and Smith meet one-on-one in Minnesota
With the NFL lockout moving into its fifth month and reportedly close to being over, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith met one-on-one in Minnesota without any players or owners present.
Because no labor developments are being made public, people on condition of anonymity spoke on Tuesday and said that Goodell and Smith were meeting to resume negotiations in order to end the lockout and get back to the business of playing football.
Smith is planning to attend the league's rookie symposium in Bradenton Florida later Tuesday or Wednesday morning.
In addition, player representatives are planning a conference call to discuss the negotiations on Tuesday.
The two sides met in Boston last week and are planning to meet through Friday this week as well.
The biggest negotiating topic seems to be the breakdown of total revenues. Sources are saying that the players' share would approach the 50 percent the NFLPA has said it received the last 10 years which would give the players more money than they received under the previous agreement.
