White Sox’s Konerko Homers in 5th straight game
Written by Nolan Thomas, Wednesday June 22 2011
Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko is on a long ball roll as he homered in his fifth straight game on Tuesday night.
His shot in the bottom of the second inning opened up the scoring and the Sox beat the crosstown rival Cubs 3-2 at U.S. Cellular Field.
Konerko has now hit 11 home runs in his last 20 games including the five straight and has 21 for the year.
Monday night against the Cubs, Konerko hit a line drive shot that just cleared the wall but on Tuesday, it was a no doubter from the moment the ball left the bat.
Konerko is the sixth White Sox player to hit a home run in five straight games with the last player to do it being Carlos Lee in 2003.
“Sometimes it just lines up,” Konerko said. “You feel good, you get good pitches, the weather is good for it. You have those little streaks, homers, RBIs, doubles, all kinds of power stuff, that kind of comes in bunches anyway. I don’t really read too much into it.”
