Dangerous Days for Denver Broncos DE

When you give a bunch of testosterone filled, adrenaline pumping guys a lot of time on their hands and nothing to focus on it is a recipe for disaster; case in point, the recent stabbing of defensive end Jason Hunter of the Denver Broncos.

Now, to be fair, he was not stabbed in the sense that someone was holding a blade and struck him with it. His girlfriend threw it at him and hit him in the chest.

As the story goes, the two were arguing over a bag of cell phones that she had found (don’t laugh; those minutes can add up). Hunter said he knew nothing about them and claimed they belonged to his son. Apparently she did not believe him since things escalated to the point where she grabbed a kitchen knife and was waving it at him.

The best part about the whole incident—she said she threw the knife at him on accident. Call it a hunch, but I think it was safe to say that she wasn’t hearing him, but I’d be willing to bet that he hears her now.

"Our physicians have been in contact with the physicians who are treating him, but out of respect for his privacy we don't want to elaborate," Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth said Monday.

This incident actually occurred the morning of April 27, around the time where former Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall was stabbed by his wife.

The NFL owners need to take heed of incidents like Hunter’s and Marshall’s. It’s a widely known fact that idle hands are not a good thing. Although these incidents could have happened even if these guys were busy getting ready for the season at the team facility, the local gym, mini-camp, OTA’s, etc., they might not have been around when their significant others decided to express themselves with cutlery.
