Shaquille O'Neal Investigated for 2008 Beating and Kidnapping Case
Former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal, who retired after the season this year, is being investigated for allegations that he was connected to the February 2008 beating, robbery and kidnapping of Robert Ross, who claimed to have a sex tape of O’Neal.
Ross testified in Los Angeles County Superior Court this week that seven members of the Main Street Crips gang kidnapped him at gunpoint, beat him and demanded the sex tape along with $100,000.
Ross originally told authorities that he thought O'Neal was behind the attack because after a business deal gone bad, he told O'Neal and Mark Stevens, O'Neal's business partner, that he had a video tape of O'Neal having sex with a woman other than his wife at Ross' home.
Detectives discovered phone records that showed numerous calls at the time of the incident between Ladell Rowles, the Main Street Crips gang leader known as "Del Dog" and Stevens.
Both O'Neal and Stevens have denied any involvement in the attack and they have not been charged in connection with the case.
