Brandon Lloyd Gets Some Perspective Courtesy of the Lockout
Written by Travis Pulver, Wednesday June 08 2011
For most of his NFL career Brandon Lloyd has been an afterthought. Whether it has been because of poor quarterbacks or poor play on his part, he has not registered as a major player among NFL wide receivers. That is until last season when he had a career year in Denver with 1400+ yards, including six 100+ yard games, and 11 touchdowns.
With the lockout in affect a guy like Lloyd could look at it in one of two different ways: 1.) I am the greatest and y’all better sign me to a mega contract when the lockout is over or 2.) Man, I am glad I finally got a chance to prove I can play; can’t wait to do it again.
It appears that Lloyd has followed the second option during the lockout, and rather than lament on the state of the game and the negotiations, he has done what has made it possible for him to turn in his best season last year. He’s gotten to work.
He isn’t just working out, but instead has gone out and gotten a real job. Along with his rap music, Lloyd has been working as a salesman for Re-Steel Supply Company in Colorado.
“It has been really rewarding…” Lloyd said. “So, to go to steel mills in Pennsylvania and Gary, Indiana, and see that people are making containers for nuclear fuel for aircraft carriers, it puts in perspective how important I am… in the real world.”
Hmmm…maybe the owners and the rest of the players need to follow suite. Maybe than they will appreciate what they have and bring an end to this pesky lockout.
