Shaq Announces Retirement on Twitter [TWEET]
Shaq announced on Twitter Wednesday that he is going to retire.
Shaq wrote on Twitter just before 2:45 p.m. that, “im retiring.” It included a link to a 16-second video in which he says, “We did it; 19 years, baby. Thank you very much. That’s why I’m telling you first: I’m about to retire. Love you. Talk to you soon.”
Shaq played in the NBA for 19-years with the Orlando Magic, who made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 1992 draft, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Miami Heat, the Phoenix Suns, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics.
He has not officially notified the Celtics, his current team in which he only played in 37 games this season because of injury, of his retirement plans.
He won four NBA Championships, one with the Magic and three with the Lakers and was the Most Valuable Player in 2000 while with the Lakers.
