Einhorn Looking To Invest In Mets
Written by Daniel Turner, Thursday May 26 2011
David Einhorn is a Wall St. maverick with a good eye for assessing a situation. For instance, he publicly criticized Lehman Brothers months before they filed for bankruptcy. Now, Einhorn is looking to take his financial acumen and apply it to MLB.
Today it has been announced that Einhorn is looking to drop $200 million to become a minority partner of the New York Mets. Having grown up in New Jersey, Einhorn is an admitted Mets fan who hopes to be able to help the current ownership steer the franchise back to the World Series.
Fred Wilpon welcomes Einhorn possibly coming aboard saying it will provide the team with a new vision and opinion. Another thing that will be welcomed is Einhorn’s investment since the Wilpon family is facing law suits regarding his involvement with Bernard Madoff and his Ponzi scheme.
Einhorn formed Greenlight Capital in 1996 and has cemented a reputation as a savvy investment expert.
