It's Official: Oregon vs. Auburn in BCS Title Game
Written by Bob Whalon, Sunday December 05 2010

The BCS has officially announced the teams that will play for the National Championship and both are first-timers. Auburn and Oregon will meet on Jan. 10 in Glendale, Ariz to decide who is No. 1.
It was a mere formality after the top-ranked Tigers and No. 2 Ducks completed their unbeaten seasons on Saturday. The third-ranked TCU Horned Frogs, the nation's only other unbeaten team, couldn't overcome playing in the lightly-regarded Mountain West Conference and will have to settle for a trip to the Rose Bowl to face Wisconsin.
Other BCS matchups announced on Sunday had Arkansas and Ohio State facing off in the Sugar Bowl; Big 12 champion Oklahoma taking on Big East co-champ Connecticut in the Fiesta Bowl; and, No. 5 Stanford playing ACC champ Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl.
Underdog Boise State was left completely out of the BCS after losing last week.

Although Auburn and Oregon come from big conferences, they are new to the championship scene. Auburn has one championship in its history, back in 1957, but Oregon has never won a national championship.
This year will mark the first time that two teams who started the season outside the AP top 10 will play for the BCS title. Oregon was ranked No. 11 and Auburn was ranked No. 22.
The Ducks will try to become the first Pac-10 team other than USC to finish the season No. 1 in both the AP and coaches' polls, while the Tigers will try to make it five straight BCS titles for the SEC. It all gets settled on Jan. 10 in Glendale, Ariz.
