Falcons Beat Packers on Late Field Goal
The Atlanta Falcons kicked a field goal with 9 seconds remaining in the game to defeat the Green Bay Packers 20-17 on Sunday.
The Falcons have now won five games in a row for their longest winning streak since the 1998 season, when the team went to its only Super Bowl.
With the win, the Falcons also assured their third consecutive winning record after never having had two winning seasons in a row prior to last season.
After Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jordy Nelson with 56 seconds remaining to tie the game for Green Bay, Falcons kick returner Eric Weems broke loose up the middle on the ensuing kickoff to the 34 yard line, but a flagrant facemask penalty moved the ball up to the 49 yard line.
Without the facemask however, Weems might have broke it all the way.
Quarterback Matt Ryan then completed four straight passes and kicker Matt Bryant made the winning kick, twice, after Packers coach Mike McCarthy called a timeout to ice Bryant.
