Steve Francis, who with the Houston Rockets was an NBA All-Star in 2002, 2003, and 2004 has been arrested in Los Angeles International Airport for alleged public drunkenness.

Airport spokesman Albert Rodriguez says Francis, the second overall pick in the 1999 NBA draft, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the Terminal 7 lobby near the United Airlines ticketing counter because he was intoxicated, unable to care for himself and combative toward airport staff.

According to Los Angeles Sheriff's Department records, Francis was released about 3:30 a.m. on Friday morning after posting $10,000 bail and he is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 5.

Whole playing for the Houston Rockets, the Orlando Magic and New York Knicks, Francis, who was known early in his career for his crossover dribble, driving ability, and flashy dunks, averaged 18.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 6.0 assists in nine seasons.

Last year he was waived by the Memphis Grizzlies and has since started his own businesses which include a construction company, boxing promotions, a barbershop, clothing line and rap label.

Francis reportedly had in interest in joining the Miami Heat signed All-Stars Lebron James, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade.

Because of his time playing with Yao Ming with the Rockets, Francis has also stated an interest in joining the Chinese Basketball Association, since he still has a huge fan base in China from his days with Ming.
