Twins Have Pitching Concerns Of Their Own
Written by Daniel Turner, Wednesday October 06 2010
While most are proclaiming game one of the ALDS between the Yankees and Twins as a must win for the visitors, the Twins have pitching concerns that involve their Wednesday night starter.
Francisco Liriano has a reputation for becoming too excited for big starts and having it become a detriment. This is Liriano’s first postseason start. So, while the Yankees are concerned if C.C. Sabathia can get them off to a strong start and whether Phil Hughes can do in the playoffs what he did during the regular season, the Twins need Liriano to keep his emotions in check and pitch to his potential.
Casting aside a poor September the Twins believe they were built for October. Getting Liriano to provide an Ace like performance could go a long way toward convincing the Yankees they are right.
