Storm End the Dream
Written by Daniel Turner, Friday September 17 2010
The Seattle Storm finished their perfecto in the WNBA playoffs by sweeping the Atlanta Dream to win the Finals in three games. Like their other two playoff series, the Storm clinched the title on their opponents’ floor.
The Dream may have been swept, but all three games were decided by one basket. In games one and two the Storm made the final shot to beat the buzzer and in Game 3 Angel McCoughtry made one of her rare misses of the evening attempting a three pointer that would have tied it up. The Dream’s Coco Miller got the rebound and fed the ball to her sister Kelly, but time expired before K. Miller could take her shot.
After getting off to a sluggish start in the game Lauren Jackson came alive in the second half and joined Sue Bird and Swin Cash to form the deadly triumvirate that the Dream could never control. Jackson was named the series MVP.
A parade will be held for the Storm Friday night at 7:00 pm Pacific in downtown Seattle. This is their second WNBA title and the second professional sports championship for Seattle this decade. The city’s only other Championship team this century was the 2009 Washington Huskies softball team.
