Ted Nugent is not your typical semi-retired rock star. While waiting for the Nugent version of Guitar Hero to hit the stores, Ted is hitting the trails and booking tours that allow you to follow along with The Nuge as he bags game.
For instance, from December 14-17, you can hunt on Ted’s ranch. Nugent’s birthday is December 31, but he uses this yearly occasion to mark the event and let you in on his sports friendly abode. Included in the trip are meals, lodging, one animal and guides. If you need a guide, suffice it to say that Ted has a spread. Since Nugent is a serious outdoor sports enthusiast, he does not limit himself to this hunt. He has a few more on tap in the upcoming months. For instance he is hosting a New Year Russian Wild Boar hunt that will run from January 2-3. Again, food is served and there are some cabins available. The price is $575.00 per hunter, but you must call a phone number listed on the site page for additional info.
Nugent has an event scheduled throughout the winter months. Many are strictly for bow hunters and others are open to guns. Nugent is a serious hunting spokesperson. He may have acted like the frizzy haired stoned out rock star on the stage, but in the forum regarding outdoorsman’s rights he is articulate.
Being a leader in the outdoor sports field, he is also a responsible hunter and offers tips, advice and common sense reminders for those who are going to go out lugging potentially deadly weapons. For instance, he has authored two books on hunting, “Blood Trails” and “Blood Trails II” that promote the sport, advocate the right to hunt game and teaches you how to use your weapons and the type you should choose.
The books are written in Nuge speak, so they are entertaining, witty, fast paced and chock full of vital knowledge for anyone entering the wild. Ted is willing to take on anti-hunters, but he is just as hard on anyone who is ill prepared and can damage the reputation of his chosen sport. Through his site the books are only 10 bucks and are autographed. They are a must read for anyone who is a hunter, or is giving thought to taking up the sport.
Outdoor sports can draw a black eye and having someone like Nugent to demonstrate that hunting is safe, legal and part of the food chain is a plus. Ted does trim and prepare his kills, so there is no gratuitous slaying that can draw fire from the non sports sector who isn’t a member of PETA.
For any serious hunter a chance to go out with The Nuge should be high on the list of priorities and his tours go from high end to affordable. Along with getting to pal around with one of the world’s leading gonzo characters, you will pick up some valuable knowledge.
